__ 1. Mostly flat, easy grades, suitable for beginners
^ 2. Few low hills, a challenge for beginners
^^ 3. Moderate hills with some challenges
^^^ 4. Hills, some steep climbs, with some relief
^^^^ 5. Many steep hills and climbs, for strong riders

> A. Leisurely, frequent stops(5-7 mph)(8-10 mph)
>> B. Moderate, occasional stops(7-9 mph)(10-12 mph)
>>> C. Brisk, few stops(9-13 mph)(12-15 mph)
>>>> D. Steady, strenuous, few stops(13+ mph)(15 + mph)

The mph range shown with the Pace is the average speed you will need to achieve during the ride. This is determined by how long it takes you to complete the mileage, i.e. if you ride 20 miles and it takes you 2 hours, including break times, then your average for the ride is 10 mph. The moving average speed is the one excluding stops, it is generally the one given by cyclo-computers

Bell Bike Helmets. How to Wear a Helmet Helmets are required on all rides.

Lights are required on all evening rides.

Patch kits and pumps are strongly recommended.
