1.) It is a very pretty SLR !
2.) The shutter priority works better than on the AE1. ( But not as good as the shutter priority on a Konica T3 or on a Canon T70. )
3.) The AE1p cooperates very well with my favourite Canon lenses FD 50mm f1.4, FD 35-70mm f4 and FD 28-50mm f3.5
4.) It hurts to use the ISO dial and the lock mechanism on the standard AE1.
The AE1p does it very much better.
5.) Of course, the AE1p’s grip on the right side is the compelling argument.

Yes, i use slow films and i could use a flash for my AE-1P. So i started to find a Canon Speedlite 188 or 299 flash.
But will it work as good as the the TTL-flashautomatic on the Minolta X-700 ?

Interchangeable focusing screens were a nice feature. I eventually upgraded to the A-1 and T-90 but kept my AE-1 Program. One minor problem is that I felt that winding of film in the camera was a bit stiff. I believe this was because the camera left the factory without proper lubrication. This was apparently a problem with many Canon “A” series cameras from this era. I switched to Nikon in 1999 and acquired two FM2 bodies. My dad gave me his FG, which is comparable to the AE-1 Program in many ways. I like the FG slightly better because of the metering system, aperture priority mode, and mechanical backup shutter speed. Nonetheless, the AE-1 Program is a great camera and I recommend it to anyone looking for a vintage film camera.
