A lens is “great” if it ticks the right boxes for you in a given situation. This lens is “the best” only in terms of size, weight, unobtrusiveness and simplicity. In all other cases, there’s going to be an X-mount lens that does it better, but there’s no other lens that does quite as much quite as well. It’s all about being a happy medium in a tiny package. On a random wander, or a work trip with limited time and baggage, no other lens pairs as nicely with my X-E2, to pop into my bag and always be ready. I have an analog brain and I feel I engage better with the subject and the location shooting with a prime lens (with an aperture ring, hence the Mark II). If I find myself with an hour to kill in a new town, that’s my happy place, which for me is what it’s all about.

Made me second guess it for travel

Squarely & patently fałse statement. It sums up as “ any lens can do anything” . Fuji has a love hate audience, probably like no other brand in digital spectrum. Some of the haters just poke around the net and cling onto anything to downplay Fuji offerings. It would help to just spend that time on own photography with whatever gear. After all it is bout making images, not hair spitting gear specs. Well, it should be.

It helped me making the decision to buy this lens as I was worried about the quality being the same as its predecessor.
I usually pair my x-t4 with the 35mm f2 (50mm equivalent) but wanted something compact and a bit wider for street photography and this lens just checks all the boxes.

Was always on the fence regarding this (and its first iteration) but the review sealed the deal for me. The lens works well with my X-T3 but slapping it on my ancient X-T10 was revelatory. The smaller form factor of the X-T10 combined with the diminutive size of the lens make for a superb everyday camera. And the focal length just works for me. Give it a try if you can.
