Reading this in 2020, it brings nostalgia for the years I spent shooting with the X70. I certainly put more mileage on it than I did on my X100F.

Alas, the X70 eventually fell victim to its not-so-great build quality: rubber parts peeling off, lens breaking, etc. It still works fine, but no longer as comfortable or stealthy. After it completely fell apart, and I switched to X100F, I’ve opened some raw files from the X70 (I used JPEG images and kept raw files just for archival purposes), and was amazed at the exceptional color saturation of the lens-sensor combo, as well as the low-light performance that I did not think was possible. In some cases, the low-light performance of the 16Mpx X-Trans II sensor surpasses that of the higher-pixel-density X-Trans III and later ones. Event oday, X70 is not a camera one can simply gloss over as a street shooter.

It’s now my main “street photography” camera. So many features in a compact body.

Already part of the Fuji team – X100, X100F, XE2 and XPRO2 – but found an X70 nearby and think it’s going to fit nicely into the pocket. Thanks for the abundance of info here.

I shot Nikon for 1973 to 2015, approximately, and Miranda (poor man’s Nikon) from 1967 – ’72. I had to be dragged “kicking and screaming” into digital. I swore I would not buy a digital until A, they could match 35mm IQ, and 2, they were built to look, feel, and controls act like a 35mm camera from the 1970s. Fuji X cameras that suddenly made it easy.

Now regarding cost: yes you can buy film gear dirt cheap these days. So what? Cost of film and processing will soon add up to a much higher annual cost, unless yo shoot very slowly.
