Hi, I tried the Voigtlander 40 f1.2 (z mount) lens today on Zfc and it shows the green focus confirmation (changes from red box to green when it acquired focus) so I am sure it should work the same on the newer Zf. I actually just gotten my Zf today and was considering this lens and the store I was in only have Zfc to try it on.

User comments on Camera Quest seemed to suggest that the green box (focus confirmation) is missing on the Zf with this particular Voigtlander.. even with the newest 1.1 firmware (Zf).

I have this lens as well as all the Voightlander Z mounts. I use the lenses on a Z7. I shot a moving fire truck responding with the 40; adjusted the shutter speed to 1200 and was amazed of how sharp the truck came out, the starburst on the strobes totally amazed me. This and the 50 1.0 are by far my favorite. Keep up with the great review. We do not see many Voightlander lense reviews. These lenses make you slow down and think. The 3 dimensional pop is the best there is. No Other lenses can compare.

On the Z9 shooting moving subjects and focus peaking ( which I’ve always hated on my Sonys and the d850) I’m drilling the shots . I shoot live music and events of people moving all the time . It’s mostly low light conditions where I’m shooting f/1.2 to f2 . This lens camera combo it phenomenal. I’m hitting shot after shot . I use it set to 8fps bursts and most always have a good photo at f/1.2 in those bursts. I’ve tried 20fps and dang that’s perfect but so many pictures to cull through.
Love the lens live the lens love the lens . It becomes an extension of your body and minds eye , especially with the Z focusing system choices. I now have an arsenal of glass for my Z camera and future Z cameras .
This Voigtlander 40 mm f/1.2 produces beautiful images and the fov is fast and natural to compose with .

Im a Sony A7RII shooter. I was amazed by this lens, love the 40mm. But i can see there is another model called SE. I can see that is smaller, cheaper but in can’t see another difference. Do you?
Thanks

I had already acquired my Voigtländer 40mm f/1.2 Nokton for use on my Nikon Z fc, an APS-C body. On that body it has an angle of view similar to 60mm on a full frame body. This is my third
Voigtländer lens. The other two were designed specifically for Nikon Z APS-C bodies.

This is an excellent and very accurate review based on my personal experience. I completely agree with it. Wide open the lens has that characteristic Voigtländer glow. It’s not really soft or fuzzy wide open, but there is much lower contrast which gives the impression of a romantic softness. Stopped down to f/4, it starts to become pin sharp across the frame. By f/8 it is a scalpel. On my crop body there’s very little vignetting, even wide open, because it’s cut off by the smaller image circle.

Focusing is easy using focus confirmation, focus peaking, and EVF magnification. The only downside, If it could even be consider a downside, is the very long focus throw of around 170°. Most of the other manual focus lenses I own tend to have a focus throw of around 120°. Using the longer focus throw makes focusing more precise, but also takes some extra effort.

This lens is not for everyone. However, the build is truly excellent, and the feel when using it is almost magical. I am extremely happy with this lens. It was worth every penny.
