On a recent trip to Utah is was plagued with the decision to buy some new glass. I purchased a second hand NEX-5 (for CHEAP) and also an a6000. Between the two, I had the sel16f2.8 with a fisheye converter, the sel55210 kit zoom, the selp1655 kit zoom, none of which were cutting it. So, I stopped in a camera store intent on the sel18135. BUT, the helpful salesman also brought out the selp18105G. Slightly heavier than the 18135, constant f4 aperture, and only about $100 more. The 35mm loss of zoom on the 105G seems hardly noticeable, and except for a few specific uses, basically never comes of my camera. Interestingly, at the same time, I also bought a 50mm/f1.8 prime for portrait work. (I was in Utah after all my nieces wedding.)

Give the selp18105G lens a ride and you’ll likely sell your sel18135.

Hi Ross. If you slide the arrows back and forth you’ll see a difference. One photo shows the image with lens corrections, the other without. The goal is to illustrate the distortion of the lens on the wide end. That particular photo was taken at 16mm and f/2.8.
