I told my wife earlier today that I get way more joy from the physical process of taking photos (playing with the camera, framing things up, etc.) than choosing and editing them later. This is especially true with film and old cameras (TLRs, folders, and anything unique) where much of the fun is figuring out how they work. It’s a complete escape from the rest of the world for time I’m out shooting.

I let the kids – the oldest was maybe four – use it and to watch the joy on their faces as they saw the pics they just took magically appear before their eyes was priceless!

Great job letting your kid use your camera. Yes I wouldn’t do this with something expensive – so as you have done – don’t use something expensive!
