Serious question: does this book start its discussion of film with the fact that it is light-sensitive? As someone who works in a lab near a large student population, I can attest that a significant number of people using film don’t know that it needs to be rewound with the camera back closed, or that we can’t ‘just take a quick look’ at the film to see if it has pictures on it. We can’t assume that people know what “negatives” are, or what “scan” means. To start with a discussion of camera types and formats could already be beyond a significant number of people who are already using film.

"Was I depressed that my site and my shop weren’t included on these lists? Absolutely. Did it color my review? Absolutely not." James, you are a Saint! But I suspect that your family knows this already. I've no need of yet another book on film photography, among many my copy Feininger's The Complete Photographer and Colour Photographer gives me all, and more, than I need. However, I did wonder about how a book devoted to new film users written when digital is King would fare. I clicked your Amazon link and was a little surprised that it connected with Amazon UK from where I ordered the Kindle edition to satiate my curiosity. Nothing new for me, but it should be of use to those wishing to explore the Zen of film photography and even take it to the level of D&P. It is well written and not held back by technical issues so it should be easily accessible and at a good price.

They also sent me a copy, so got mine for free too. I have to say it is well put together. I enjoyed flicking through it even though most of the info I’d come across already, but for someone less experienced it is a nice reference.
