There are many similar films. HP5+ is just as good as Tri-X. I see no reason to prefer one over the other. Portra 400 is just about perfect. Delta 400 is great. T-Max 400 is superb.

I feel similarly about Fuji. Their film is a bit cooler it seems.

I tried portra 160 but (perhaps the lab processing it?) I didn’t bond with it. I should try one day portra 400, but I know I prefer Kodak to Fujifilm, I tried proH 400 and although it was very clean and with amazing greens somehow the colors seemed a bit dry, or artificial even, not sure if digital would be the word.

I’m intrigued with Cinestill but my (limited) experience so far hasn’t been great. I shot one roll, had an issue with it and their customer service has been epically slow to correspond with. I realize that has little to do with the film itself, but IMO a company gets dinged serious points for shite customer service.
