Like it. Did you use a period correct camera as well? 😉 Back in the late 90ties I would pick up b/w film at Fotoimpex (by the time they where 100 m from Friedrichstraße Palast) and in the fridge I still have some Efke film in rare 127 size. Maybe I should load my Baby Rolleiflex…

I spent a little time in East Berlin in 1984. The difference with West Berlin was night and day. It was as though the sun shone on West Berlin, but East Berlin was always under dense gray clouds. It was remarkable.

Many thanks for this article, very enjoyable. Having re-visited Berlin last December, for the first time since 1964, I found it difficult to recognise much from that time, other than the KaDeWe store, which externally at least was pretty much unchanged. Given we only had three days, the Hohenschonhausen prison, which I would have liked to have seen, was a bit too far off the beaten track. What I was delighted to see, was that all the heaps of post-bombing rubble, which were still quite apparent in East Berlin in 1964, have all gone. I am looking forward to another visit to Berlin when the Stadtschloss and Humbolt Museum will have been turned from a huge building site into the finished article. Wilson
