It sounds like an electronic problem rather than a mechanical one. I’m afraid I’m not an expert on these cameras, so I’m not sure that I can help. Maybe another reader will have an answer for you? If you need parts, let me know.

Thanks, that was it! 🙂 I managed to open the camera up and the lens shield seems to be intact and working in it’s own right, however the open switch don’t open the shield and the camera doesn’t turn on with fresh batteries 🙁 You wouldn’t have any clue where to troubleshoot?

If I remember right, the prefocus lever has a circular piece of decorative rubber on the bottom of the arm. It covers a screw I think. Just use a small screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the rubber cover and you’ll find whatever is holding the lever in place. This is all from memory, so I hope it helps.
